EduBlogging: Live part by part :)

First, I want to start by saying that I really enjoyed Edu-blogging. I learned that you can not just take away things from the internet and use it as your own.

Plagiarism is not an option, we can always strive to think of something to post by ourselves. We must be good examples to future bloggers. Although we can make the blog lively, we must stay in as serious way as possible because it is for the sake of education.



 I learned that when you take something from different sites, we must show where we took it, or accredit the people who originally put them on the internet. We should place things with meaning not just plain scribbles and meaningless words.


To make the blog more exciting, we can use images, photos and videos with reference or from our self. If the word we used is not familiar, we can use hyperlinks, I learned that using Hyperlinks is also a good way of accrediting the sources.

A blog that is too compact is a boring blog, yeah, who wants to read blocks of words right? I also learned that blogging can be educational and reliable, it changed my view on how to see blogging, because it taught me that being on the internet can also have a learning experience. I experienced first hand, the respect that bloggers deserve for their hard work because blogging can be fun, but it can also be hard work.

Sankarea: Poisons poisons poisons .. yummy!

Poison u lyk?


Ok you guys might be wondering why I used this anime’s image as my intro, well its simple.

Let’s start with the anime entitled “Sankarea”, there was this boy named Furuya who has a fetish with zombie girls and different zombie stuff. Then when his cat “Bubu” dies, Furuya started to conduct an experiment to revive his dead cat by the use of an ancient book he bought from an Occult Shop. The resurrection was good at first, watch the Anime to know more!

Now let's shed some light on the image, as you can see there a girl who’s eating a Leaf right? Actually that leaf is a poisonous plant named “Hydrangea” he used this plants extracts to create a potion that will revive a dead person. The girl, with Furuya's help, willingly became a zombie after family issues.

Then what’s Toxicology?

In simple terms it, “It’s the study of how any substance we take in our body can affect us in a good or bad way ”,

However, i see it as the study of toxin/poisons and their different function, uses, action and treatments that they may aid in our daily living. It’s also use for detection of poison.

Ok done with that, those are the 3 T-words you have to remember, Teratogen, Toxicant, and Toxin.

Teratogen - Any substance that are capable of causing malformation to the fetus during development stage.
                 - Thaliomide

Toxicant - A toxic producing substance that causes toxic effect on living organism at a sufficient concentration.

Toxin - Produce by any living organism (microbe, plant and animal..)

XenoBiotic
It's the term use for human-made substance that are not naturally exist in nature.
   example of these are: agricultural pesticide


Now to the 
Types of Toxicology
Now there are 5 types of toxicology namely:

  1. Mechanistic
  2. Descriptive
  3. Regulatory 
  4. Forensic
  5. Clinical

                Starting with 
         Mechanistic Toxicology
    Its focuses on the specific chemical, biochemical and molecular mechanism to which toxicant has their effects.


Factors may affect the effect of exposure of these toxin:
  • Size of the Molecule
  • Type of Tissue
  • Cellular components
  • Substance that is dissolved in water or fatty tissue






               Descriptive Toxicology
Here they test the toxic potential of different agents to be characterized in an array of programs/systems. And it also provides information for safety and regulatory req.

               Regulatory Toxicology
Data that are from mechanistic and descriptive toxicology are translated into policies. Its a decision-making process concerning the uses and applications of these chemicals in the society, limits are made for the safety of the people. “Regulatory toxicology is the primary basis for laws that limit exposures for people and for the environment.” (RT)

Concerned with the legal and medical aspect of toxic substances or poisons taken by a human or even an animal.

Here it focuses on the disease (usually on humans), caused by different types of toxic substances. Short-term and Long-term toxic substances.

Ok back to the topic..

so What is "Endocrinology"

Based on how I see it, Endocrinology is a branch of science that deals with the different types of disorders and different hormones of the endocrine system.

The Endocrine System is responsible for the release of hormones to the blood stream etc. Hormones are specific even though they are released into our blood stream it will always land on its specific target cell/site, I wonder why? But it's true, thus hormones will undergo a certain biochemical reaction/changes that are responsible with much of the development of our body such as growth through stimulation/aid of the electric impulses coming from the Nervous System to the Endocrine System.

How are they able to study it? 

The rapid development and advancement in technology allows the further and clearer study of these hormones and their specific functions by the use of the modern technology like (RIA) radioimmunoassy and so the different immunoassay procedures.

"Endocrinology is the study of hormones, their receptors and the intracellular signalling pathways they invoke. Distinct endocrine glands are scattered throughout the body. These are glands that are largely or at least devoted to secretion of hormones, and no introduction to endocrinology would be complete without some kind of endocrine system "map"." Simple right? :)) well it gets harder while trying to understand and learn what they really do and what kind of problems may occur if there's a disturbance on the different glands that produce these hormones but it's interesting yes?
